Christmas Shopping – Get Yours Done The Quickest Way
Sunday, January 9th, 2011It is that time of year again, time to start thinking about Christmas Doesn’t it seem to come by so quick every year, just think Halloween is not over with yet! But it can be quite a good idea to make plans for your Christmas shopping early. Having more cash left in December is the main reason people start shopping early as it enables them to spread the cost of Christmas out over a few months instead of spending all their salary in one shopping trip! With so many people being out of work or working shorter hours this is probably more relevant this year than any other due to the current global recession.
Anyway enough doom and gloom. Christmas is a time to look forward for many people and a time for families to get together.
Here are some useful Christmas gift ideas to consider when buying gifts this year:
1. Sales Now On
Many sales and discount offers are happening right now in the stores. Buy 2 get the 3rd free, or upto 50% off market items. This is great for toys. You can get loads of bargains of you have a good idea what your child wants for Christmas. However, sometimes you will have to make a bit of a judgement call. I have 3 young kids and between now and Christmas they will change what the want from Santa countless times. Having just bought the toys on special offer only for your child to say they don’t want the toy is a heart stopping moment. Having said that, come Christmas morning they have usually forgotten all about not wanting the toy and are very happy with your purchase after all!
2. Is Second Hand OK?
I used to have a real problem buying nearly new items, that was before I had children and realised how empty my bank account can suddenly become. But with the advent of auction sites online you are able to get some fantastic bargains nowadays. You know what it is like, when the next new toy comes into the shops and old toys are forgotten about and left to one side. So take a good look at these online auction web sites, have a good look at the items available, but remember before buying anything check out the sellers history and their feedback just to make sure they can be trusted.
Another tip is if you buy video games, for consoles such as the Xbox, playstation, PSP and Wii etc they buying second hand games is a great way to save some money. As I am sure you are aware most kids and even grown ups complete games quite quickly therefore exchanging them in the shop for a new or used game is usually a great way to get yourself a good deal. My husband trades our games in at the Game store. Quite often we pick up a few second hand games for the kids and the love it. I really recommend this was of saving some money and can honestly say we have never had any problems with any of the games we have purchases.
3. Let The Creativity Flow
Members of your family are not really looking for expensive Christmas gifts especially when you have young children. My parents and parents-in-law enjoy getting a nice bottle of wine, a good book, perfume or a gift voucher. They get more pleasure out of seeing the children open their gifts. That is what Christmas is about for them. Gifts don’t have to cost a lot of money. Think about the person, think what they would really want. If your good at making things great, you really can save some money and your gift will be even more special because you put the time and effort into something to make it.
