What Search Engine Optimisation Does
Friday, April 13th, 2012The internet is a wonderful phenomenon which crashed into our lives some twenty or so years ago. It was in the early nineties that the general public became aware of the internet despite the fact that it had been around for some time before that.
But over the last decade, whenever we need to find anything, we will all usually head to the internet before anything else. It was also considerably easier and quicker to obtain the answer this way than trying to obtain information through an encyclopaedia!
As more and more people began writing articles for the internet, it got to the stage where the information needed to be ranked. In order to do this, it was necessary to use SEO (search engine optimisation). SEO is supposed to be about getting the most useful articles to the top of the search engine rankings so that people will find the articles that are the highest quality.
There are so many different articles available these days so if you want yours to rank highly, you will need to make sure that it has been well written and that it contains the information that people want. Every business wants to see their name on the first page. The aim is to have their website appear whenever someone types the company name or a keyword that they have been targeting. For instance if you want some information on a specific brand of shoes and you type the brand into the search engine, the information will be available in a couple of seconds, and the closest stockist to your location will be identified.
If you want to get information on a bird then typing the species name into the search engine should produce all the information you could need on that particular bird. The more up to date information will be at the top of the page, with ten different headings being available on each page, each one lower down is probably less relevant.
Those three little letters SEO are something that many companies rely on in terms of their online customers.
